Artist Retreats
Hakka Guesthouse is a space for emerging and established artists to showcase their work while simultaneously allowing guests to experience art in a lived-in space
In order to support emerging and established artists we offer four-day (three night)artist retreats at Hakka Guesthouse.
Our Artist Retreats recognise the demands of sustaining a creative practice and offer a dedicated space for rest, reflection, and renewed inspiration. Designed as a creative circuit breaker, each retreat provides artists with time to step away from the pressures of constant production.
Artists are invited to immerse themselves in the unique environment of Hakka Guest House, drawing inspiration from the space, its surroundings, and the experience of pause itself.
Alongside rest and exploration, the retreat offers an opportunity to begin developing ideas for a future exhibition within the guest house, considering how your work might respond to and engage with the site.
The retreat is not about producing finished outcomes, but about creating the conditions for new ideas, conversations, and possibilities to emerge.
The final exhibition of work will occur 2-6months after your stay at Hakka Guest House, dependent upon your personal practice.
